OCR: Brief history Bucharest is Romania's Capital and biggest city. It lies in a field in the southern part of the country, traversed by the river Dambovita, at an equal distance from the river Danube and the southern side of the Carpathians, and not very far from the Black Sea Coast. It is one of the country's ancient cities, the territory of which preserves in its ground traces of continued human habitation dated to be over 150.000 years old. Archaeological diggings indicate the presence of the Thraco-Geto-Dacians around Bucharest at the time of the famous king Burebista (70-44 BC) and in the period of the big wars between the Dacians and the Romans (AD 101-102 and 105-106), led by king Decebalus and Emperor Trajan respectively.
